Summer Camping

22 June 2016

This is the time of year when camping families rejoice! School is out and summer is officially here! Now you can make the most of longer days, swim season, fishing, grilling, and even catching up on that book you’ve intended to read all year! Camping is a budget friendly, family friendly activity — and you don’t have to travel far to feel like you’re worlds away.

When my husband and I were young, we were backpackers. Throw everything you need into a back pack and just start walking! As we grew older and added children to the mix, tent camping became the norm. We could go on those great hikes (backpacks were replaced by child carriers), and still have a base camp where all the kids’ stuff could be stored.

Recently, we bought a trailer. Wow, what a concept to camp and sleep on a “real” bed! I feel like I have the best of everything now. A portable home, the outdoors, campfires, and quiet.

Whatever your camping style, there’s one thing you can always count on. You’ll have the happiest, friendliest neighbors. I have yet to find a grumpy camper out there!

At Goodwill, we found some great items to accompany you on your outdoor journeys.

Have a picnic with this beautiful wicker picnic basket.

Make sure to bring a good book, hats to protect you from the sun, and funky plates to liven up your picnic meal.
