Goodwill operates Community Employment Centers throughout San Diego County that provide free assistance in searching and applying for a job. Whether you want to work in a local grocery store, a boutique, a manufacturing company, a high tech firm, as a day laborer, or in a variety of other jobs, we can help!

All services provided through our Employment Centers are FREE OF CHARGE! All we ask is that you are 18 years of age or older, legally able to work in the United States, and are serious about finding a job. At Goodwill’s Community Employment Centers, we work so you can!

JOB SEARCH ASSISTANCE

Our Employment Centers are equipped with computers, phones, and job lead boards that can help you find and apply to jobs you are interested in. Employment Center job coaches are also available to assist you through the entire job search process.

RÉSUMÉ & COVER LETTER PREPARATION

Our Employment staff provide free assistance in creating or updating your résumé and cover letter. We do our best to help sell your current skill set to your potential employers. Additionally, we have many free resources, handbooks, and guides that help you develop a winning application!

     Improve your skills for the workplace! Attend these FREE workshops at any Community Employment Center (CEC).

HIRING EVENT PREPARATION

Every Monday from 9 am – 10 am

Let us prepare you for any upcoming Hiring Event. We provide interview coaching, résumé review and other helpful tips. Those who attend this workshop will receive interview priority.

COMMUNICATION BASICS

Every Other Wednesday 9 am – 10 am
(Oct. 3, Oct. 17, Oct. 31, Nov. 14, Nov. 28, Dec. 12, Dec. 26)

In this workshop, you will learn that communication is more than just speaking words. Our communication is influenced by our own experiences and perspectives, our field of meaning. Learn how to make communication work for you.

CONFLICT MANAGEMENT

Every Other Wednesday 9 am – 10 am
(Oct. 10, Oct. 24, Nov. 7, Nov. 21, Dec. 5, Dec. 19)

Conflict happens. People approach situations with different perspectives and goals. Even though conflict is inevitable, many of us find conflict uncomfortable and something to be avoided. Learn how to manage conflict effectively.

RÉSUMÉ WORKSHOP

Every Friday from 9 am – 11 am

Take your résumé to new heights and be better prepared for the job market. Our workshop is designed to help you create a professional résumé that will help you get results.

COMPUTER BASICS

Wednesday, October 3, 10:15 am – 12:15 pm
Wednesday, November 7, 10:15 am – 12:15 pm
Wednesday, December 5, 10:15 am – 12:15 pm

This workshop will assess your computer skills and show you where you need improvement. You are then able to work on improving your computer skills at your own pace. Some of the programs covered are Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
