Employment Centers

Goodwill operates Community Employment Centers throughout San Diego County that provide free assistance in searching and applying for a job. Whether you want to work in a local grocery store, a boutique, a manufacturing company, a high tech firm, as a day laborer, or in a variety of other jobs, we can help!

All services provided through our Employment Centers are FREE OF CHARGE! All we ask is that you are 18 years of age or older, legally able to work in the United States, and are serious about finding a job. At Goodwill’s Community Employment Centers, we work so you can!



Our Employment Centers are equipped with computers, phones, and job lead boards that can help you find and apply to jobs you are interested in. Employment Center job coaches are also available to assist you through the entire job search process.



Our Employment staff provide free assistance in creating or updating your résumé and cover letter. We do our best to help sell your current skill set to your potential employers. Additionally, we have many free resources, handbooks, and guides that help you develop a winning application!



We provide tips on how to dress for success and interview preparation classes that can significantly help you improve your chances at landing the job.

Improve your skills for the workplace! Attend our FREE workshops at any Goodwill Community Employment Center. See our calendar for locations near you. Computer Basics is offered weekdays from 9 am – 4 pm. Use our computers and training software to learn the basics at your own pace with career advisors available to assist if needed.


The 2 week Job Readiness Program* will teach you how to:

  • Create a winning résumé
  • Communicate effectively
  • Interview with confidence
  • Follow up with employers after an interview or hiring event
  • Find the right job for you
  • Job search like a pro and get noticed

Completion of Goodwill’s Job Readiness Program demonstrates to potential employers your commitment to posses the following soft skills: Reliability, Commitment, Initiative, Proactivity.

*Job Readiness graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and a Recommendation to employers from Goodwill.

Goodwill’s Job Readiness Program is offered at all of our San Diego County Community Employment Centers.


Our Paid Training Program is designed to train and prepare you for the workforce. It is a three month, structured, hands on training program in Retail and Donations. You will have the opportunity to practice work ethics and skills needed to get and retain a job while you learn retail and self-management skills. Trainees are employed in a part-time position to help ease them into the workforce and then get assistance in finding employment after completion of the program.


  • At least 18 years of age
  • Able to work in the U.S.A. legally (proof of citizenship or immigration status required)
  • Must be able to complete employment application and assessments independently
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Must be able to work 20 hours per week
  • Have a desire to obtain long term employment after completion of training
  • Meet attendance requirements

Individuals who successfully complete the training will be considered for regular employment or Goodwill Career Advisors can provide job search assistance.  If you are job ready and fit the eligibility requirements then enroll at one of our Community Employment Centers today.
